Hello everyone!

We are proud to announce the launch of ‘Soundscape Forever’, an
ambitious collaboration with Kunstradio. ‘Soundscape Forever’
commences now with the on-line publication of ten original pieces and
tonight’s broadcast of Chris Watson’s ‘Luskentyre’ on the celebrated
weekly program of the Austrian National Radio cultural channel. The
collaboration will continue until December 13th with the broadcast of
5 subsequent works by Els Viaene, Xavier Fassion, Jean-Philippe
Renoult, Murmer and eRikm, who were given carte blanche to create new
works for ‘Soundscape Forever’.

‘Soundscape Forever’ is a reference to Raymond Murray Schafer,
credited with being the “inventor” of the soundscape in the 1960s.
First and foremost it’s a contemporary questioning of this notion
which is both ambiguous and often quoted, and still plays a central
role in contemporary sound-art and music.

When at SilenceRadio we question the notion of soundscape, we come up
against the problem of speaking about sound with sound: we do not
know what to listen to! A little disorientated, we find our way out
by choosing a mobile framework, which arrives at uncovering certain
chosen pieces in the whole. From the remainder left in the dark,
there emanates nevertheless some ghosts…

As “any landscape is a state of mind”, these creations remain
naturally only projections of spaces in space, of air within air, of
human beings towards other human beings. Landscapes exist only as far
as human or animal beings create them by their activities, their
relations and their perceptions.

We live in sound.
